Pianos send low-frequency vibration (30–500 Hz) straight through their legs into the floor — and into the apartment below. Carpet doesn't stop it. Foam tiles don't stop it. The KK1248 mat decouples the piano from the floor structure, so the impact never makes it to your neighbor's ceiling.
How it works
Two layers do two jobs. The dense base layer absorbs and dissipates low-frequency vibration. The textured top layer grips the piano legs so the instrument stays put on hardwood, tile, or laminate. Together they break the path that turns a chord into a thump downstairs.

Will this actually stop my neighbor downstairs from complaining?
It will dramatically reduce the impact noise from pedals, key strikes, and bass-string vibration that travels through the floor structure. Airborne sound (the music itself, through the air) is reduced less — for that, you'd add wall and ceiling treatment.
Which size do I need for an upright piano?
The 63 × 31 in (160 × 80 cm) size fits most standard upright pianos. Measure the footprint of your piano (front leg to back leg, plus the bench area you stand on) before ordering.
Will it fit under a grand piano?
The 63 × 47 in (160 × 120 cm) size fits most baby grands and small grands. For full concert grands, two mats placed side by side is the usual setup.
Will my piano slide on it?
No. The textured top surface grips the piano feet. Once the piano is centered, it stays put on hardwood, tile, laminate, or low-pile carpet.
Does it work for digital pianos?
Yes — especially for weighted-key digital pianos where the hammer action sends a thump through the stand into the floor.
Can I cut it to fit?
Yes. Use a sharp utility knife and a straightedge. Cutting will not damage the damping performance.
Does it smell when it arrives?
There may be a faint material smell for the first 24–48 hours. Unroll it in a ventilated room before installing the piano. The smell is non-toxic and dissipates fully.
How thick is it? Will the piano look like it's on a pedestal?
Just 0.4 in (1 cm). Thin enough to be visually unobtrusive, thick enough to do the damping job.
Will it scratch my hardwood floor?
No — the bottom surface is soft and protects the floor underneath from piano feet, dropped sheet music, and bench movement.
